ICYMI:Nicki Minaj wears Idan Cohen on the cover of Cosmo

 ICjumpsuit nicki on cosmo

When we viewed the Idan Cohen show back in February, we were dazzled by the beautiful intricacy of his work. Apparently, the stylists over at Cosmopolitan were too, since their July cover girl, Nicki Minaj, dazzled in a crystallized body suit from his RTW collection. Mr. Cohen debuted his designs for the first time at New York Fashion Week in February. We have no doubt it will not be his last. As time ticks down to September, we cannot wait to see what Idan Cohen has in store for us with his S/S 2016 Collection.

If you would like to view more of Idan Cohen’s A/W 2015 collection, watch the video below. Courtesy

Why we all should want to be a “Getty Girl”: August Getty Atelier

After floating us into his garden on a cloud of lavender in September with his debut spring collection for 2015, August Getty ushered us into the sleek streets of the night with his Fall 2015 collection. Black Leather was the key to his collection, from dramatic capes to gowns made of flowing trains of leather, August ‘s woman is effortless when it comes to being the undiluted center of attention. Laser cut jumpsuits, two piece sets with peek-a-boo cut outs in the rear, the fall collection had everything a mysterious woman could want. The essence that his collections give off is that of a confident, fearless woman who oozes allure.  When you see his designs, you want to be around the “Getty Girl”, but most importantly, you want to be the “Getty Girl”. WILLOW SMITH: The New Face of Marc Jacobs

MARC JACOBS SLOWLY UNVEILS HIS FALL/WINTER CAMPAIGN

IMG_20150605_045431

This morning Marc Jacobs unveiled a picture from his latest campaign starring Willow Smith. Over the past year, Willow and her brother Jaden have been two of the most interesting celebrity kids to watch, fashion-wise. Last week the Internet was buzzing about Jaden’s prom pictures, but it’s safe to say his sister wins this round—her campaign image is pretty stellar. While it may seem insane that a 14-year-old has landed a major fashion campaign, keep in mind this is the same kid that had a hit single at age 9.

Willow joins Cher in the campaign, photographed by David Sims. There is no word yet on who else might show up in the series, but on his Instagram, Jacobs states that there is still more to come. Is it weird to be genuinely excited about advertising?

Idan Cohen

This Mercedes Benz Fashion week, February 14, 2015 was monumental for many people and for many reasons. For the rising star Israeli designer Idan Cohen, he was not only debuting his A/W line of evening gowns but he was also getting married. The designer married his life and business partner, Elad Borenstein, right before his debut show in a beautiful ceremony with their families around them on the very same runway his collection would show. The excitement was palpable as people took their seats for the runway show.

As the lights dimmed, and the music of Beyonce’s “Haunted” played over the speakers, the models adorned in truly inspired gowns seemed to float down the runway. The intricate beading of Idan’s hand sewn designs was simply captivating. His flawless designs only enhanced the effortless beauty of the models. It is no wonder his designs are coveted by some of the most exclusive, and high profile women in Tel Aviv. It is evident in the craftsmanship of Mr. Cohen’s designs, that his time studying at the London Instituto Marangoni school of fashion is at an expert level.  Below are some of the looks from his A/W 15 collection. Check out more of Idan’s designs at  www.idancohen.net .

Georgine A/W 2015

The back-lighting of the runway was dimmed to red before the Georgine’s 2015 A/W Collection hit the runway. The color reflected the tone of the show, red-hot. The the rock music that played in the background was a perfect accompaniment to the curly Afro’d seventies inspired collection. Metallic platform shoes, floor length silk dresses, and shearling bomber jackets took the stage but the show stoppers were the beautiful bright furs. Purple, blue, mustard yellow, and lime green furs were the highlight of the finale for many. Georgine’s mission to create “beautiful chic clothing that every woman will feel great about wearing”  was completed, beautiful, sassy, and elegant, her collection gave us the effortless glamour we love to see on a woman.

Below are a few pictures from the A/W 15′ Georgine show.

John Galliano debut’s his Artisanal collection for Maison Margiela

After four years out of the limelight as the head of his own house, as well as Christian Dior, John Galliano made a very triumphant return Monday night with his first “Artisanal” collection for Maison Margiela.

As Galliano purists held their breath for the debut of his new collection, we were pleasantly surprised to see garments that held Galliano’s classic penchant for grandeur and elegance. A collection filled with Jacquard platforms, feathered headdresses, embroidered and brocard coats was proof positive that Mr. Galliano hasn’t lost his talent for couture wear. Courtney Marse

The crescent city of New Orleans is known for it’s Cajun food, jazz music, and voodoo. Not many people know that it has a burgeoning scene of talented painters, sculptors, and even fashion designers.

This past November I got the chance to view a show at the inaugural “Southern Coalition of Fashion & Design” fashion week in New Orleans.  The designer Courtney Marse ,started out in a  field one wouldn’t necessarily correlate with fashion, graphic design.  When speaking with the young designer, she said that her transition into the fashion world was a “slow progression” she began working with fabrics a few years ago and then began experimenting with digital textile printing. I asked about her fashion influences and she  cited that the brand “tibi” with their high end effortless style, was one of her favorites.
